How do I Request Transport

Patient Transport travel Desk 

North Wiltshire works in partnership with Great Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust to provide a Health Transport Travel Desk to at arrange the requests for non emergency patient transport services. This service is provided free of charge as long as you have a medical need for transport in line with current ambulance policies. Great Western Ambulance Services web site: www.wiltsamb.nhs.uk 

  • If it’s your first outpatient appointment at a particular department, you need to telephone the patient transport team on 01249 813604 (Great Western Ambulance Service Trust). 
  • If it is a follow-up appointment, or you are being admitted, you need to contact the relevant department at the hospital/treatment centre. 

This service will be available between 8 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday. 

Please note that at least 48 hours notice is needed to book transport, therefore you should phone as soon as you get your appointment. 


Link Transport 

This service is staffed by volunteers and although there is no fare, they do ask for a donation. The service is for those without transport of their own and who have difficulty in using public transport. Transport can be arranged by telephoning 01249 712961 


Wiltshire Hopper 

For travel to and from the Royal United Hospital, Bath. There is a fare for this service. Please arrange by telephoning 01985 212213. Further information about this service can by obtained on web site: www.wiltshire.gov.uk
